i have been running a hotter plug on 250r for many years it was a BPR8ES and now i this run a BR8ES .. THIS MY TWO CENTS

damn I can understand why you lost compression now. can you post any pics of your holy piston? i'd like to see some.

theres a pretty good chance that the hotter spark plug may have caused it. how much compression was your motor set up to run with when you got it ported? usually when you start modifying your motor you want to run a colder heat range plug. I guess it may have been a little lean and with the hotter range plug and that last lengthy, half -full throttle run it just made that spark plug get so hot that it melted a hole in the piston. what does the spark plug look like now after it happened?

Here are the pics. The first three are from the new piston riden on twice. Once for an hour and once for about six and a half. The other piston is the one that came in the R when I bought it. Ridden for a year on and looks good as hell. Only differece was on the holy piston I had the cylinder ported and polished, 01 cr250 head gasket, and a hotter spark plug(B7ES).

One other thing I forgot to ask. I think some small metal shavings and shit got down in the bottom end near the crank. Is that going to hurt anything? Please don't tell me I need to crack the cases.

i would you might have got some on the rod bearing,or just get some brake cleaner and spray it all out really good make sure it spins free.iwould split it and put a rod kit on it but that just me i do it right the first time i have learend over the years it sucks to spend all that money on a piston and bore job then the rod bearing let go and wipe the piston out and the sleave good luck
