Default 87' 250r versus 06' trx450r

My friend just bought a 450r. I was wondering which one is faster, handles the best, and will win in a race through windy fireroads? Mine has holeshot hd's all around. His has stock tires so I'm guessing mine would hook up a little better. But I've heard that his is a pretty fast ass quad. But mine is too. Only thing I've ridden faster than mine is a banshee. But mine will blow a banshee away in terrain that I ride in; especially handling. But he's talking all kind of shit to me right now wanting to go riding and drag racing and telling me how fast it is. I've been racing for 8 years and riding for 15 years now and I am a much better rider than he is. Seriously. But he does have a fast quad and does know how to ride average I guess. I used to race mx on a highly modded 400ex before I sold it and now am just riding hard in woods and hunting roads. Just wondering if anyone has ever raced their 250r against a trx450r or a yfz450r. Thanks guys.

if his is completely stock you should win if you shift these right and get a good holeshot and beat him by half or full quad lenght

The drag race may be a close one, but as you have already stated... You will kill him everywhere else with your experience... let us know the outcome...

I've raced the new 450r vs my 86 250r, but it's a 3 wheeler and well we did straight line racing haha

By what you've said and you know your riding style you should be able to take him. The new 450's are pretty nice quads I must say, I rode my friends and it was real fun! Definetly run em and let us know the outcome

My son has both 450R and a 250R. His times on the local tracks are almost identical. Takes more maintenance on the 250R per day, but it is just as fast. We just added the HRC Cam on the 450R and low/mid band is much better on terrain like the logging roads. Think it will be a good race and boil down to who is the craziest!

Good Luck.

Gearing is a big factor between these 2 quads, a 450r comes stock with 14/38 and a 250r has 13/38 stock. If you are geared the same as him , your R is tuned properly and you can ride as you say...you shouldn't have a problem out running him.
