either bike is awesome to own and both are very reliable if maintained the right way. and they can both be made into very strong running machines with tons of aftermarket parts available for both. the 250r is the oldest though, but still a very proven, reliable bike. the banshee is pretty old too, started production in 87 and has changed hardly any since.

both of em are fast, but the banshee is faster with basic mods like pipes, reeds, and other bolt-ons. it takes a pretty well built ported 250r to hang with a basic piped banshee on the topend. but for the cc size, the 250r holds it own pretty damn good and makes a very versatile bike for any kind of riding or racing. the banshee can do all the same type of riding, but takes a little more rider effort cause of the way the banshee is designed. the banshee really excells at fast paced riding or racing, like dunes, drag racing, TT, and cross country if you really want to try it.

all in all, if you like to go fast most the time and just want arm stretching power then get a banshee. if you want to be an old school 2 stroker and have a nice well rounded bike then get a 250r. the sound of a banshee is unlike anything else, a wailing, screaming sound to it when you got er pinned wot. the 250r has a more distintive broader, torquey sound to it.

It all comes down to the riding you will be doing... dunning, drag racing, anything top end based, go with the banshee. For mx and xc and for over all play riding go with the more versatile 250r.
