Are you mad because you can't figure out how to make it work or what? If you don't like what we are doing why the hell are you on this thread?

Alright, first off I don't live or have anything to do with any FRAT. I am a mechanical engineering student so I understand things about design that you don't even know exist. Fatigue will be an important concept for you CR500 die hards. This setup has been tried many, many times by people smarter than you. Believe it or not, if the CR500 were the big bad ass you think it is then we wouldn't have Pro-X cylinder, or new CP cylinders would we. There are so many reasons why this motor is not the end all, or even the beginning for the TRX frame. If you can't realize this than go ahead have fun. Sometimes people just have to learn things for themselves.

Thank you to those who know my purpose is not to flame but to make those who think this sounds great realize its not. Go spend the money on an after market jug for your TRX bottom end and ride carefree.

you made your point 5-0 so please let this thread return to its useful info exchange.

Its amazing that after 50+ pages everyone has got along until now.

Like 5-0 says its not the greatest choice for a motor, and 500 sabertooth will kill it.

But to be honest majority of the Pro-x cylinder bikes don't beat my bike.

But the cr500 motor can be a reasonable choice for the guys that can fab & weld.

The motors are pretty cheap to come by and are very reliable.

The kick starter is one of the major hurdles to these projects if you are avoiding major frame mods.

Heat is another, even the cr500 bikes have issues with the motor running hot.

Running the motor on alcohol was probably the best single thing I have done to my bike since transplanting a 500 in it, it never runs hot even after hot lapping 10 times at the strip in the dunes.

There is just something cool about a cr500 motor in a TRX and always will be.

Kind of like hopping a flat head Ford for your street rod, a small block ford or chevy will kill it but never equal it in coolness

engineers they are so book smart that they think they know it all , hell i am a machiniest i work with them all the time they tend to over think things and oh they are never wrong ......... but i have made alot of things and when you almost get it done they see their m mistake and change the prints and be damned if you dont have to make things all over again

Have had mine for about a year, and while it isn't perfect, it was cheap to build and it's fast. It does vibrate a bit, but it isn't as bad as some people make it sound. I could only venture to guess that many of those who have tried it in the past with undesireable results, were not as good as they think, or just a little too sensitive to deal with some vibration.

May be an easy fix if you want to ride it.
That was exactly it man, thanks alot for the tip bro.

on a scale of 1 to 10, how bad does a cr500 motor really vibrate? i've ridden a trx250r with the counter balancer out of time with the crank and it hurt really bad after a while, to the point where i couldnt ride anymore. is the 500 that bad as well? i want to do the swap because it kicks ass, but not if it isnt enjoyable. but then again i cant see why honda would put somethin out that vibrates that badly so please give me your input on how bad the vibrating really is. thanks
