The moose coil does not fit, they sell it but it is to big to fit under the flywheel.
After asking around I found quite a few people that had the same experience.
rickystator lighing coil is only 25-30watts, if I remember correctly.
The servicehonda kit is suppose to work real well according to some guys at the cr500 forum.
I have even seen a picture with a TRX250R flywheel and stator on a cr500 motor.
the case was machined down so the stator area would accept the large flywheel then a custom cover was installed. Had excellant lighting with go lowend power having the large flywheel.

I have heard good things about the service honda ignition, it is available with a lighting coil. I think the run upwards of $500, but they are supposed to be a pretty good setup, and they claim easier starting as well, which is a big plus in my book.

i think i remember reading on cr500riders that eline was making them for service honda.

I have heard that the service honda ignitions start differantly than stock, something like kicking slower makes it start better than real fast.

I re-jetted the other day and rode in the dirt for the first time in about 6 months or so. It runs so much better than it ever has, it idles now and it will start when it is warm for a change. I can't believe I was actually considering getting the cylinder ported for more power, when all I needed was to get the crank case sealed up. That thing has more than enough power for a trail machine.

hey Dirt,
Sounds like you got it runin pretty good.

My crank is off to crankworks for some added stroke and balancing.

how's the vibes now that you rode it a little more.

Yeah, it runs real good now, in fact I gave myself a couple of good scares, turns out the new Razrs bite alot better in the grass than the old bald tires, it don't turn real well with the front tires in the air.
I think the old crank had been ballanced, because the new one vibrates pretty good. The headstay is still solid mounted though, so I expect it to be a bit better once I get the rubber one in there. I am just so glad to be able to ride it again, so I am in no hurry to take things apart again. Besides, I only really notice the vibration in the seat area, and once I start riding, I completely forget about it. Might have something to do with the fact that I spend a good amount of time with a jack-hammer at work, so I am probably immune to the vibration.

You PM'd me and I told you to find a xl kicker to heat and bend.

This will not be a bolt on piece it will take some effort to make work on your bike
