I have been told he is or was one of the first guys in the business to do them. Only bad thing with a cr500 you only get 1-3 because of the layout of the trans. you have pull the clutch for 4-5. I won't get a chance to try it for a while because I don't expect to get all the pieces for my motor until around the end of may beginning of june. I have been busy working on the wife's snomoquad anyways hope to get it done for the E2S trip in may |

| Pipe looks good man. What gearing are you using? How does the 1000RR ride? I bet that is a scarry machine.

| glad its working out for ya! I would stick a 44 or 45 in the back then play with a 13 or 14 tooth front depending on the rear tire height. cr500's have much steeper gears than the TRX's A flywheel weight will make it launch easier, get the heaviest steely makes. The trx's also have much larger flywheels than the cr's. Flywheels weights can also help the bike start easier and stall less. The early cr500 had lighter cranks that revved faster but stalled a little easier than the later heavier crank bikes. |

| Im running 13/41 gears on it right now. It would work great on a track or short drag race but riding out here on the dessert more top end would be nice. Dad's 1000rr is crazy fast when it hooks up. Most of the time the ass end is wanting to pass the front. It is a little nose heavy so Dad is going to build a fuel tank that will go under the seat where a factory air box would be instead of having it sit in front of the engine. |

| I didn't read your post very well the first time, the 86 motors and 93 and later had the wide ratio transmissions 87-92 were the close ratio and did not have as much top end gear. I don't think its night and day differance but there is a differance. look for a wide ratio transmission and swap it to help out |

| Hey guys, how's everybody doing ?? I haven't been on in quite a while now but do almost have my build done........Finally !! Will be finishing the motor mounts this week, just the front two left to do, and getting the pipe finish fitted and or modded this week also. After the pipe is finished, it will go for some triple chroming and the motor will be tore down for crank balancing, then of course reassambly and then it will be ass hauling time. I did end up solid mounting the motor top to bottom and front to back, I think the original plan of rubber mounting would cause the engine to squirm to much. I will get some pics by the end of the week, I think you guys will likey.... Later Mike Last edited by RZBansheeMan; 05-07-2008 at 04:21 AM. |
