| That sucks rsss, you have the most thought out and professional looking conversion I have seen. To bad you’re having some problems. The way I see it, with rubber mounts, you have a 60 pound weight moving independently of the frame. The best way i can describe it is like using a hammer with a good swing or a short, the rubber gives it room to make a good swing. The rubber may make it feel better for the rider but it may also be harder on the bike itself. With solid it still moves, but it moves together. Hopefully solid will work for you. Someone on another sight brought up a point that I have never thought about before. They mentioned that square tubing will transfer vibration a lot easier. Mine is a 400ex with round tubing. I did some research but couldn’t find much information on that. Last edited by Iridetoo; 10-09-2008 at 07:58 PM. |

| Thanks Iridetoo, I knew going into this build I would end up having changes. I enjoy the challenge most of the time and hope that I will be able to pass on useful information for everyone. The only bad thing about me using a aftermarket frame next year is my results my not be exactly the same as if I had done it in a trx250r frame which is a pretty common donor bike. Haven't thought about the square to round tube difference but have thought about heavily reinforced engine cradle compared to something a little more forgiving. Which is really about the same because square is generally stiffer than round. My new frame is round tube but looks pretty rigid in design. |

| Mine is a round tube. I have had no problems. I just got a round tube for my 330R. I also enjoyed your post. When I get a chance I'll post my out look on the project. Right after I get the pipe measurements.

| Sorry I didn't get back with you sooner. It went right in clears what it needs to. ![]() I have not been able to start it with the kicker yet. But I did not try it much. Now I have some repairs to do to the pipe before I do anything else to it. Only time will tell.

| Wow this is a long thread. I guess people keep fighting to make the CR500 work in a quad. I dont think it will ever stop either as people have been taking stabs at it since the early 90's. |

| I was thinking we needed some more videos on here. I forgot the camera so my dad took some on my cell phone. Im still having some issues with it cutting out, above 3rd just wont go. It's like I hit the kill switch. 1st to 3rd run great most of the time and when it hooks up it still scares me a little, which is always a good thing. Sorry for the quality. Right when I pass by the camera the second time I hit the throtle and it bogged. Of course since Im on video, I have to stall it at the end .![]() You can realy hear it bog near the end in this video. ![]() Hopefully it will be running better for next year. I will be getting a pipe made to match some more portwork and will be on the dyno again. |

| Got a video of you riding it?
