170 main also sounds a little rich. I run a 162 in mine. Even if its new check your float height. It sounds like you are not pulling fuel on your pilot. It should definately run with the choke on no matter where your idle screw is.I see you put a 48 in. Did that do anything

Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience!

With the 48 pilot and the idle adjust turned in tight it would idle for a little bit then die off, but it seemed better than the 55....I havent checked the float level yet, ill have to do that tomorrow

Something is not right. Your engine should be racing with the idle screw turned the whole way in. What is your needle set at. You may have to move the clip down one. Just throwing out ideas.

what is the temp there? its been a little while since ive rode my R cause its been forever since its rained and its a dust bowl arond here, and the temps have been around 100* here lately. well rode my R yesterday and it kinda ran like a dog, like havin to clutch it alot to get the power to hit, actin kinda slugish with the powerband. I guess cause its so hot and every thing that I need to jet it leaner. so this evenin I put a 50 pilot, 162 main and the clip is in the middle slot on the needle. ran noticably better all around. so I guess im gonna try goin even leaner with the pilot and maybe around a 158 main and see how it runs.

Actually that is wrong. The cooler the air the more dense it will be, holding more oxygen. Your bike needs more fuel. Between summer and winter my jets vary from 172 in winter to 162 in the summer. I never bother with the pilot though.

that could be your problem aswell. try putting it in the middle clip without messing with anything else and see if it helps.

That is definatly the problem. Go to the middle position, 48 pilot, 158-162 mains. Do you know how to check your mains, wot high gear, hit the kill switch and pull in the clutch. Check your plug. Should be chocolate brown on the insulator of the plug not the electrode. 48 pilot may be a little lean should probably be a 50 or 52
