Default Needle info on my 250R

Hey guys, I have an 86R, 38mm airstyker carb, fmf fatty pipe and silencer, boysen rad valve, 87 crank with the spacer plate, duncan racing power head with 21cc dome. Runs great on the top end but my throttle response is terrible. I have 50 pilot with a 168 main. The needle is the factory DDJ in the third slot. It idles real rough and fouls if i let it sit long. I didn't have any other needle to try except the stock honda needle from 34pj and it was ten times better. The stock needle is way leaner than the DDJ. I was just wondering what you guys were running for your needle because i think i can do better than the 20 year old stock needle.
Thanks.

I have the same set up except with a stock head and no spacer. I changed the ddj needle to a CEL this week end, and it was much better. No where near the light switch power it used to have.

Idling rough and fouling plugs at idle has nothing to do with the needle. The pilot jet controls fuel flow at idle. Try dropping a size on your pilot and see if there is any improvement.

i have to agree here...also i think duncan racing has a pretty good jetting guide if you browse their site a bit...i think it draws a picture to show what carb circuits control what part of the throttle.
