Hey Guys, New to the forum and new to the TRX 250R. So far I am in love with it, but like any relationship it hasn't been an easy road. Bought it cheap, soon after getting it a balance shaft bearing went out and took out a lot of expensive stuff. Picked up a clean used engine (runs awesome) and now it seems it makes the same bearing sound ever so slightly. Not wanting to repeat the damage again, what do you guys do to fix these things right, or are you guys just not using the balance shaft anymore? Thanks in advance for any advice. John

You could buy a bearing and have a machine shop near you press it on, or buy a new one. You should make sure its the bearing on the counter balance and not where the bearing rides in the case...as for not running one my arms are hurting just thinking about it, not to mention your water pump wouldnt work very well ![]() Hunter

CT rebuilds the balancer for $60. I've had them fix one for me and it works fine. I just bought a used one off of ebay for $5 it needs rebuilt though so I guess I'm gonna send another one to CT so I can have a spare. A buddy of mine years ago had one go out and it tore up his cases where the bearing rides so he had it machined out and they put a metal ring into his cases where the bearing rides and it worked fne

I didn't even think about the water pump, DOH! It seems that the bearing on the water pump side must be a pretty common failure on these things. That is the one that went out on the last engine (badly) and is feeling a little rough on this one. Thanks for the help, I will get in touch with CT! John

What damage would it do? I dunno if you remember Dave from the e2s silver lake trips, but he let his go for too long (had no idea it was bad) and it blew the entire front of the engine cases clean off the bike....his bearings got so bad the the counterbalancer gears meshed tooth to tooth instead of the way they should....took the whole front of the motor off it....
