| Yep..you read it right...found yet ANOTHER curve ball with my R tonight. Turn out it has NO Voltage Regulator on it either. Is this even possible? Would / could it even run without one? Because it did actually run, but it didn't have one. I looked all over this thing for it, and can't find it, can't even find the plug for it off the Harness. It was chopped up and re-taped pretty good though!! The only things is has are CDI and Coil. Nothin else. So here's my dilemma... Would a wiring harnes from any year R work? Frame is an '86 with '87 motor. I eventually want to upgrade to the CR Ignition though OR High Performance CDI with Nology Coil. Whichever one would be better. But I wanna get it running ASAP, so should I just get a new R harness, Regulator, Perf. CDI, and go from there? Or just get the whole CR setup?

| So the only "bad" thing is no lights? It won't fry the CDI from overvoltage or anything like that? If so, then that's ok, b/c I know with the CR Ignition, you lose lights also.

| It's all good. The way I look at it, is if it's safe as it is now, it's 1 less thing I gotta replace and can save money for something else that needs fixed.

| go to a motorcycle junk yard and get a regulator off anything thats a 2 stroke. It will work. My regulator is off a polaris snowmobile, works fine
