Default what ratio should i run?

Ive got a 1986 trx 250r bored .30 over with a k&n filter, paulturner pipe and fmf Q series silencer. my main jet is a 158. everybody around here tells me to run 32:1 but I think thats too fat. any suggestions. I ride mostly at sea level.

The ratio has really nothing to do with it running fat, what makes it run fat or lean is the air/fuel mixture witch is in your jetting. I'd run 32-1, it's safe and i have been running it for over 10 yrs with no problems.

As far as it smoken alot, does the bike run good?, does it get loaded up if you let it sit and idle for a while? do you foul plugs often? if you have any of these problems your jetting could be a little on the rich side...if you dont have any of these problems then let it be...it's a 2 stroke...it's supposed to smoke...
