Default 250r motor questions

Hi

I am new to the board. Can anyone tell hoiw to tell a 86 250r motor and 87?

If you mean Suzuki, the 87 has a powervalve. If you mean Honda, the 87 has a different stroke. There are other diffs as well with both brands, but those are the only really important ones.

actually all the honda 250r years had the same stroke, it was the 87-89 that went to a longer rod crank with different style piston. and also they changed the porting layouts somewhat. I think the 87+ had intake bridges and the 86 didnt. and I guess the best way to tell the difference is to check the vin number on the cases if its on there.
