Default cr500 in a 450r or 400 ex chassis

i would never get rid of my 250r but for a project if i could get a honda 400 or 450r chassis cheap i would build one has anyone tryed it? i wonder if it would be hard

i figure it would be cool and there might be more room for the motor and the pipe plus i hate 4 strokes and i dont want to be like alot of people and build a banshee

its just a idea right now but my 250r is almost done and i would like to start another project ive seen afew rolling chassis on ebay or a complete quad with a bad motor

There is a guy on here who is putting a CR500 motor in a 400EX frame. His screen name is rummerd, there is a lot of info about this and other CR500 quads in the CR500 in a 250R frame thread.

My Trx 450r/cr 500 Quad Project Is Nearing Completion After A 3+ Years Of Work. Should Be Finished & Ready To Sell By Spring. Comments & Questions Are Welcomed.

Here Is A Summary Of The Parts I Used & A Few Of The Things I Have Done To Reduce Frame Stress, Vibration, And Rider Fatigue Issues.

I Used New Stock 03-06 Trx 450r "take-off" Parts (bought On Ebay) To Build A Complete Rolling Chassis (frame/subframe/swingarm/carrier/axles/hubs/seat/intake System/steering Stem/brakes/lights/ & Plastic)

Modifications

Frame-2003 Trx 450r:
*main Frame Reinforced Using Chromemoly Tubing Split In Half & Welded Over Stock Frame At High Stress Points
*custom Made Motor Mounts W/isolation Dampeners For Cr500 Motor
*powder Coated In "red Baron" Red

Motor: 89 Cr500: "borrowed" From My 89 Cr500 Bike
*ported & Polished Intake & Exhaust
*compression Release Installed On Cylinder (kicks Like A 125)
*fmf Gold Pipe Modified To Fit Trx Frame
*case, Cylinder & Head Glass Bead Blasted

Rear Suspension:
*elka Shock & Spring
*elka Linkage
*+6" Aluminum Wheel Spacers

Front Suspension:
*long Travel, +2+1 A-arms
*elka Lt Shocks W/remote Res.
*denton Type Steering Dampener W/6061 T6 Aluminum Mounts

Fuel Tank:
*ims 4 Gal W/billet Cap

Handlebars:
*"fatty" 1.125" Handlebars - Filled With Lead Shot & Elastomeric

Clutch: Magura Hydraulic "jack" Clutch

Lighting:
*ricky Stator Lighting Coil/stock Battery (to Keep Battery Charged & Get Back To Camp Use Only)

Bling Etc.:
*billet Steering Stem Adapter For Fatty Bars
*asv F3 Clutch Lever
*asv C5 Brake Lever
*twist Throttle
*billet Pk Brake Block Off Plate
*ss Braided Brake Lines
*boysen "factory Racing" Clutch Cover

i would use a 400ex chassis over the 450r, it handles alot better, and is lighter, if you get some LT elkas and arms and a aftermarket axel on there it will handle amazingly well, you almost never see crf450 hybrids in 450rs, its always in 400exs
