| cr does not have a counter balencer but you could always get the crank balanced and then rubber mount it and the 500 puts out more power but vibrates badly but ditto for the 500 and u got one hell of a machine

| I dont know. I've heard horror stories about it. I was thinking about trying it but, after some reading it looks like an endless uphill battle with the vibes.

| Even with the crank ballancing, which in the end costs serious $, some guys say they still cant ride it for long rides. For all your time and cash you'd be better off building a prox r motor for it. Might not have the same torque as the 500 but it will have the hp if done right

| I just got done putting a 98 cr250 motor in my trx frame and man is there a hell of a difference. I love it. There is some vibes but nothing serious.

| I have both a CR500 and a last generation CR250 with electric powervalve, but for the engine I still prefer the additional low end torque, the extra power and the sound of the CR500. Sure, the CR250 engine is more predictable (the CR500 never even had a powevalve) and runs with less vibration, but is just not as fun. You also may want to testdrive a last generation CR250, because it allready has a very advanced alu-frame and very good handling. You may find that good enough a package, but if not, I think an (almost) new CRF450 with a CR500 engine is the best dirtbike currently available. You can buy these here: http://www.servicehonda.com/cr500af05.html Or build your own, to save money and personalize your bike. |
