Why did they stop making the 250r?

Ok. here we go.....Basically in a nutshell......Honda is all about the environment and the pollution that their motors put out!

They made 250R's for more than 3 years, too.

ATC's created a hostile legal environment for Honda. They agreed to not sell any 3 wheelers past 89 for 10 years. They were compelled to discontinue high performance ATV applications in general and did so until 99 when they made the 400ex. By that time they had already been making plans to discontinue 2stroke engines for environmental related issues.

Google ATC lawsuits for Honda and you'll see the same info I've found.

Yea this topic has been brought up in dozens of threads and probably will be started in 100 more. Sure some are lazy to do the search or just... the way it's worded in the search it comes up with no results.
The other thing, if it does come up in a search, there are about 100 to 200 responses and a lot of them kinda steer off of the subject and to look thru all the posts is an eyesore.
Especially the ones that talk about senseless B.S. You might get 5 posts that are really about the topic started.
Sorry about the rambling on but, take a look at a few posts and you will see what I'm talking about.

Now that would be awesome! Especially with the 2-stroke technology that is out there today!
Take snowmobiles and wave runners, they all have advanced fuel injection instead of carburetors and also look at the power valve stet-ups that they are using.
There are a lot of 2-stroke motors that are actually more efficient than a 4-stroker.
Will Honda jump on this band-wagon? I don't think so because they are so dead set on making the most effiecient, clean burning, environmentally friendly 4-stroke motor.
Pretty soon, I wouldn't be surprised if your brand new quad comes equipped with a catalytic converter and oxygen sensors to adjust for the best exhaust emissions!
