Advice on 250R purchase

Ok, so here's the deal. I found a local guy selling an 88 TRX250R frame and engine. The R frame is in great shape and the engine looks clean! All that is included is the frame, engine, exhaust, and possibly steering stem/radiator. Price is 1200 bucks. Is it worth that? Also, I have more questions. The guy was not home and I had to talk to his wife about the quad so I couldn't get details. The jug and exhaust is signature Paul Turner. What is the deal behind Paul Turner stuff? What is the value of his work? Please let me know, I am considering picking up this quad tomorrow.

so is it a rolling frame, or just a frame, is the motor in the frame, but i would pay probally about 800-1200, depending on the shap it is in, ex motor runs, frame is not cracked, and the rest of the stuff is in great shape, but pics would help

I can't really get the pics, it is in the guy's garage. It is NOT a rolling frame. It is strictly the engine, all wiring, and the frame with steering stem. No a-arms, swing arm, shocks, axle, tires, rims, plastic, seat, spindles, NONE of that stuff.

Includes....
Frame only
Mounted engine (excluding the swingarm back mount or whatever)
Steering Stem
Radiator
Header and Silencer
Engine has a Paul Turner signature head/jug and exhaust.
Carb and airbox eliminator setup is included with k&n filter and outerwear.


Price on those parts is 1200. I might be able to get it for a little less but I couldn't bargain with the guy since he wasnt there.

It might not matter much but the numbers match on the motor/frame since this is the original owner.

1200 sounds a little high at least where i'm from, around here its worth about 500 - 800 and that depends on the condition.

high guy is trying to stick u the bike isnt assembled assembled these go for 2500-3200 bucks depending on condition for the shit u have to replace on it u have over 3 grand in parts u will need to get this bike able to be ridden.

True....True.....I guess the engine is worth maybe around 500-700 bucks and the frame is probably 200-300.....radiator maybe 60-80...stock steering column and used exhaust not too awfully much. So a better price would probably be around 700 or 800 huh?
But at what point would this become worth it? He has EVERYTHING for the bike sitting there. It was stripped off all over a picnic table. What should I demand for about 1200 bucks if that is the price he wants?

try to get as much as you can. Ask him what he wants for all the parts and go from there.

I would say theres no way I would do it. You can buy the engine and frame for less on ebay. The other parts your talking about are basically worthless if they are stock. Its way to high.

It would be nice to find one for 1600 but that seems to be a pretty rare occasion.....If I had that kind of luck I would be handing over the cash right now.
