The LTR I beat with my 06 Raptor was a 08 3 week off the show room floor all black limited edition with a cherry bomb. Considering I think of the Raptor as more of a trail/ screw around quad than a race quad, I thought it was pretty impressive to beat a brand new race quad. I like four stroke power but I like riding 2 strokes more. The yip yip noise just gives me more of a rush than the low ball shaking bellow ALL four strokes are capable of.....doesn't matter if it is a little pitt bike or a 450, or just the farmer's utility.

As far as you saying it has been low cost on the new LTR, I hope it never happens but as far as the rumors I hear, when they blow up it makes one hell of a mess. I hear the new piston designs try to flip upside down and basically grenade the whole motor. Not only that but I have had a friend fry a 300ex and it cost him over a grand to get rebuilt. Four strokes are great for the longevity but pray you never have to rebuild one......

sad thing is poeple think cause they got a modern day high tech four stroke its going ot last forever and you just throw gas in it ...hit your starter button and go ride ,problem with this thinking is in order to get that same power as the old school 2 strokes they need not only twice or three times the displacemnet but also every tuner trick i n the book to get them to rev and still hit the strong torque numbers off idle ,that kinda tinkering greatly alters reliability and the longevity factor ,the fact is these designs are very expenisve to repair and replace and a 4poke has literaly twice as many parts ,so you do the math .wh ywould the big 4 ever want to make things simplier theres way more profit in trying ot keep up with billys qaud down the street and thsoe parts add up quick.it is not made of pixy dust floating around inside... thats real metal i n there thats abused rubbing grinding and in motion every time it make a revoution ,a four stroke wil lwear out eventually and when it does you might as wel lfigure on going to your bank and taking a couple grand out i na personal loan so yo ucan ride gain

on a properly calibrated respected rear wheel dyno , not dynos made with crayola crayons for fictituous engines posted up and ran off the crank also keep in mind a dyno can be made ot read about whatever you want and the y can be 20% off from each other ...it is a tool like a table saw ... in the wrong hands it can have very bad results . also note i never said it wouldnt be possible to do so , but it wont be very reliable and it wont come cheaply thats for sure ,and wha t constitutes a low cost engine to that person ? id bet it isnt 500bucks or even a thousand bucks and yes i have rode the 450's first hand for extended periods of time ,im sure if you scour the internet long enough youll find a dyno graph posted up of a atc110 making 80 horse as well ., when i see piped cammed 450s at the drag strip blowing by stretched banshees and built 250's ...then ill be concerned for now wha t ihave seen is not condusive wit h a high state of tune as far as engine perofrmance and really in the grand schem of things their times are not genraly consistant with quads making 60 horsepower .low 5s in 300foot isnt good enough and on a 500foot track its the same sceneraio .sorry its houldnt take 3 or 4 grand in mods to get nudge below 5 seconds in 300 feet ...to me their home is on a mx or gncc coarse where the hight tech chassy and easy riding powerband make a big differecne in the outcome

As far as the 250r vs. ltr450 goes:
My laeger 250r is stock port,stock carb,with a sparks mx pipe and K & N filter.Airbox with no lid. Yesterday at happy hollow in peebles ohio a piped ltr450 beet me every single time in a 500ft drag. I wouldnt trade him quads even though he just paid 7 or 8k but he did outrun me. It wasnt totaly one sided,but he did win like 5 times.

The bottom line is that People have the impression that 4 strokes are more reliable because for like 25 years 4 strokes have mainly been farm quads or mildly tuned play toys that werent meant for raw power or speed.
Of course an old lt230 or 300ex or any XR dirtbike or utility quad is going to last a long while.

ahahhaah good analogy bro.... people need to realize the only main reliability difference between a 2stroke and a 4joke is the 4poke will run like shit ~ longer before it finally locks up
