| i loved my R too, i wish i could keep it and race the open class still with it, but i just cant afford it, also the biggest flaw of the R isnt its performance, but the fact that i cant ride in the 450 class which is the biggest and most competive and yes my R was an amazing mxer, but it was jsut getting too costly, and i prefer the 4 stroke torque, the 450s really do rev just as fast now as the R, its really all personal preferance, once i get my fox walsh supsension front and back, it should handle pretty damn well, my R weighed in at around 235-240 lbs with it all geared up for mx, and with a pb block off, dasa exaust, fox floats, kickstart kit, walsh swinger, and if i watned to a carb, i could get the ltr down to about 245, so its really not that big of a jump in the end im also saving a bit of money as well, beacuse im parting my R out, and i already have about 5 grand of stuff spoken for, and then theres easily another 500-1000 left that i havent sold yet, and i bought the LTR for 5300 and the thing about the sponsored riders, there was an interview with Jerimiah Jones after he went to the LTR, he said taht the 250r can be a very potent machine, BUT he would have sparks making 10 different motors everytime, and he would only use one because they had to be made absolutly perfectly, and when he was on just a 265 it would obviously be a struggle to keep up with a 450, since weve been talking about a 310 vs a 450 for alot of this thread im really not trying to put down the R here, im jsut throwing out some facts, and saying the route that i have taken, and if i didnt like 2 strokes, then why would i still own a 88 250r(which is now in the process of getting a full motor build), a blaster, and a cr 250r but once i get my motor for the 88 which will be an esr 310 pv with some other goodies, ill go take a video of my LTR draging that, and ill leave the 18 inch tires on the LTR, and the stock ohtsus on the 250r, so we'll see what happens Last edited by fastR of puppets; 05-01-2008 at 03:37 PM. |

Thats exactly my point, it was an interview. Might as well of asked dirtwheels on thier opinion. J. Jones smoked all the compition with a 250r in GNCC the first yr the 450's came out. Then what do ya know, 250's where outlawed. Its all a pipe dream.

even 340 sounds like a dream... where you gona knock off 35 pounds..? and then remember you need to put 3 gallons of gas and a couple quarts of oil in it. they are heavy bitches those ltr's.. its the truth. like i said before... a damn banshee with a set of aftermarket pipes is about 375 dry.. i hate being an ass, except to you fastR, but didnt you say a few pages ago.. "ltrs wernt meant to be fast or light..." .....? its so confusing to keep up with you.. you seem to chnage your mind/opinion every day of the week.. or is this just what they are spoon feeding you over on ltr450hq? | fastR, did you get a chance to weigh the R or was that an estimate? I've been wondering what mine would weigh. I figured it would weigh less than stock with a lighter tires, pipe, etc. I guess I don't know about the weight difference in axle, arms, nerfs, etc. Is the Laeger frame a lot heavier?

and to weigh it just take 4 scales and put one under each wheel and fulltilt, the first year the 450s came out it was just the yfz which builders had no experience on, so of course the tested and proven R would do best then, just look at the new ds 450 and the ktm, ya there great quads but there not winning since there new and not many people have gone to them |

| Man i wish they would let the 2 strokes back in to the racing scene..It would be a slaughter..
