Why make power half the time with a 4-stroke when you could make it all the time with a 2-stroke?

well the 250r stock frame is only made for a stock 250r motor... its made of mild steel and it always cracks if your jumping... i just would not do it with the 250r frame... maybe an aftermarket frame though...

A stock 250r frame is probably the most strongest durable frame ever made, from factory. I personally watched mine barrel roll sideways about 28 times down the side off a hill. No bends cracks, nothin but a bent steering stem , which Im still using, and a bent rim. The motor mounts crack from vibration caused by poor maintenence but other than that they are bullet proof. If you are going full race mx then you want an aftermarket frame. I dont care what kind of power your motor is putting out it doesnt equal the kind of stress put on a frame , overshooting a 40 ft double with a 325 pound machine and a 180 pound rider.

Anything can be done with a welder and some know how. I had a 929rr motor at one time I thought about stuffing in my r frame but ended up selling it.

A 400ex has almost identical frame geometry, but it has one major change: round tubing. Round tubing is stronger, that is why they changed it and why all of the after market frames are round. A 250r frame would probably do fine if you aren't jumping, but it is definitely not the strongest. It's up to you, but personally I would get the newest frame you could find so there are less stripped bolts and it's seen less strain. You may want to look for a Cannondale if the exhaust will fit. Their chassis were awesome and they are going very cheap nowadays.
