puzzled on my jetting,,

im in missouri about 800 ft above sea level. its around 65-70ish.. have a bone stock 89 trx 250R. i have a 38mm air stryker . it starts up 3-5 kicks a little white smoke. when i pop the throttle in neutral it kinda bogs to 1/4 throttle then hits. and when i take off ... from no throttle to about 1/4 - 1/2 it kinda bogs and sluggish and from then on it hits pretty good??? i have a 45 pilot and a 172 main.. in right now.? carb is clean. where do i need to go to get it to hit all the way through the throttle??? and the clip is the second notch from the top. and i looked at the needle and it had this wrote on it ..NR 14 6 9 ???? what the hell is this ??

any help would be great !!

Try a 165 main and see what your plug looks like!! Are you letting it warm up to normal temps first?

ya im lettin it warm up.. but doesnt the main for 3/4 to wot ?

The numbers on the needle represent the taper and length of the needle. Put the clip in the middle and the air screw 2 turns out. And yes what does the plug look like? Have you done a top end recently or when was the last time? White smoke is a sign of coolant buring with the mixture.

last time i had a top end was about 2 yrs ago. but havent really rode it that much. what causes the coolant leak ?

Coolant will seep into the cylinder from a wasted base or head gasket. Or worse a cracked head or jug.

i see.. and would the coolant leak make it bog and sluggish?? and my plug is black and wet

yes,its for 3/4 t wot,but if your too far off on the main,it will act like that! Try the 158 main Im sure it will help!!

Put in a 50 pilot with a 160 main and i had to play around with needles to find one that ran great. The best needle i have found is the DGH needle the 38s normally come with a DDJ and i put the DGH in mine and my brothers and it ran 10 times better. Try the jets for now and get the needle later because you would amazed at what a 5 dollar needle will do.

u not above 3000 ft thats when jetting is effective but temp also has a effect on it ur air filter should be cleaned also
