ThrowinRoost89 has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default esr cylinder & bike info

im looking into buying a 250r to smoke some shee's and 4 strokes

i found one on a local site for sale

bike info:
I just don't ride it anymore since getting the Grizzly last year and hate to see it just sit in the garage and w/ a baby on the way it just makes even less sense. I've owned this quad for roughly 5 years and completely rebuilt everything. I've taken pretty good care of it and meticulously changed the oil and fed it race gas and maxima synthetic oils. I'm offering every spare part & bolt with the sale even down to a half full 5 gallon pail of Maxima premix oil.
Mostly aftermarket 1986 TRX 250R w/title and recepts for almost everything:
Frame/Body -
- '86 frame gussetted and pc'd silver hammertone by JB Racing
- '89 length ('86 style) JB Racing swingarm - silvervein pc
- +1/+1 JB Racing a-arms - silvervein pc
- Ohlins piggy back Shocks front (comp/reb. adj.)
- Ohlins remote rear (comp./reb. adj.)
- Houser +1 chrome anti-vibe steering stem w/ Tag CR high bend bars
- Alum. belly and swingarm skids
- Nerf bars
- Custom Cascade seat
- Roll/IMS pegs w/kickups
- all OEM white plastics, set of uncut fronts w/custom graphics, race cut fronts, full rears
- Carbon fiber hood scoop
- OMF radiator vents
- Roll/IMS shifter and extended brake pedal
- Relatively new DID x-ring chain and sprocket set
- Relatively new tapered bearing carrier
- Aluminum front bumper and rear grab bar (can't recall at moment what brand)
- Maxxis Razr fronts and rears
- Hiper beadlocks front and rear (see pricing below)
- extra set of Maxxis Razr fronts on Douglas rims
- extra set of Sand stars rears on Douglas rims
- Stainless brake lines front and rear
- white handgaurds (can't recall what brand at moment)
- oem gas tank
- aftermarket adjustable axle (I think it's a lonestar)

Engine:
- ESR 265 powervalve w/ trx5 porting *about 10-15 hours on since top end rebuild by site sponsor Rt 20
- ESR TRX5 chrome exhaust
- Stock uncut airbox with full snorkel
- Boyesen CR Rad valve
- Mikuni 38TMX carb
- stock radiator
- Hinson clutch components and counterbalancer
- Baldwin Racing completely tore apart bottom end and replaced $1,500 worth of parts during rebuild including new oem '86 bottom end
*Dyno'd at HMF Engineering 47-48hp and jetted properly

I'm sure there's more but that's all I can remember at the moment. Price is $4,300 w/o the hiper beadlocks/razr tires or $4,900 including them. Buy it at the $4,900 price and I'll throw in everything 250R specific parts, nuts, bolts I have as well as the paddle tires/rims for the dune trips. Please PM me if interested and I'll forward cell#. I do not know of a single problem with this quad that needs immediate attention - I'm not out to hide anything from anyone. The only time I lied is when I swore I'd never sell this quad. My only suggestion would be to replace the swingarm & shock bearings within the next year which I think I may have kit in the garage (I'll throw those in if I do).

what would be a fair price for the bike w/hiper and sand tires, its in good shape

also, could the esr 265 cylinder be sent out to be converter to a 350 or 370?
i dont understand why he would buy a 265cc cylinder when there is a 370 for $100 more lol

He'll never get $4,900, or even $4,000 for that matter. To get into that range of price you're looking at a fully aftermarket R (frame, etc, etc,) in pristine condition. Or a like new or restored to new condition completely stock R. I don't know what a good price would be, especially without any pics.

As far as boring out the 265... no dice. The problem with that is the head studs are only going to be so large in diameter to accommodate a larger sleeve for that size casting. You might be able to put in a 310 sleeve, but definitely no larger. Although, I would check with ESR just to make sure.

Depending on the type of riding that you do really depends on the displacement. I've never ridden a 370, but I can imagine it would be at times unbearable on an MX track or in the woods. Also, some racing circuits, etc have a displacement rule. For the 250R's it's typically 265.

for a stocker chassis, HELL NO

and theres other reasons for running a 265 instead of a 370 beside the extra $100

way overpriced, I can pick up a similar r with a 310 ct cylinder for 2800. They just dont hold thier value. Im building mine right know, have way more money in it than it will be worth. But hey, I built it. Im actually going to take a look at that machine this weekend. I can always use another r.

The only way he could get any good cash out of that is to part it out

I hear ya there... In hindsight, I should've just saved my pennies to buy someone elses fully aftermarket R. I'm in the process of building an MX LSR R right now, and I tell you what, this shit ain't cheap. I've got over $3K into it so far and don't even have a legit roller... It'll be badass when I'm all done though. "But hey, I built it."

thanks, but i sold it. i could not take it anymore. i was fixing it more than i was riding it. old parts were breaking one at a time.

but i need another 2 stroke, im hoping a 250r will treat me better. and this one's motor has been fully rebuilt. so im thinking its almost worth it.
