| I'm a recent convert to synthetic oil and definitely recommend it. I use Amsoil 50:1 in my TRX and my brother's Blaster. I have Mobile1 10w30 synthetic in the gearbox right now, but I'm working on getting a more motorcycle gearbox oriented oil for that. |

| Welcome, and glad to hear about your recent purchase. You won't be disappointed. As far as the 2 stroke oil goes, as you can tell, everyone has their own personal favorite/recommendation. Regardless, make sure you use a quality synthetic. I personally run Amsoil Dominator mixed at 40:1. If you don't understand mixing ratios, I'd highly recommend picking up a Ratio-Rite measuring cup. You will also get varying responses regarding the tranny oil as well. Once again, make sure you use a quality oil. I personally use Pro-Honda HP Trans Oil, and am very happy with it. You expressed that you don't know where the oil goes in, so I'll give you a little run through about the tranny oil. When changing the oil there is obviously a drain plug on the bottom of the engine, remove it and allow the oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug. There will be a phillips/10mm bolt on the clutch cover that is labeled, "Oil Check." Remove it. Add your oil of choice until some starts to come out of the oil check hole, which is when you know that it is full. Replace the oil check bolt. I forgot exactly how much oil it takes, but it is a little over 1/2 of a quart. Hope this helps.

| as far as mixes it all verys per bike in my opionion start at a richer mix say 32:1 witch is 4 ounces of oil to 1 gallon of gas then see how your bike runs if you foul a plug out then lean it up a bit say 40:1 then see what happens its all about getting used to your bike and knowing what it likes and dosnt i would say to start get you a few plugs and do some testing happy shredding !!! dont forget the helmet !! and like bushwesl said get a ratio rite mesuring cup and achart to make sure your mixing your oil rite that is till you get used to it ![]() Last edited by outtacontrol250r; 05-28-2008 at 02:03 AM. |
