The cr ignition lets the motor rev out more, its only downfall is that esr's set up does not let you have lights. there are a few set ups out there that let you run lights but Im not sure what they are. so i guess if you dont want to run lights it is a good choice.

The CR ignition is an upgrade into the 21st century. It is a digital ignition with a better timing curve and a more powerful spark. The flywheel is tiny compared to the stock TRX flywheel, which will allow the engine to rev much, much quicker. I've heard this isn't as desirable in a tight woods setting, as it is more apt to stalling if you aren't keeping the RPM's up. You can add a flywheel weight to lessen this effect. A company called Steahly, see page two, manufactures these weights. 250r ignition cr 250

I've got a CR ignition coming, so I'll let you know how it goes.

I have 1 too for my atc but I haven't put it on yet either but as far as the lights go you should be able to buy a lighting stator for a cr and run lights that way- there are several different company's out their making them- I know moose is 1 of them- they're all around $150. Another option if you don't run lights often is putting a small dry cell battery in your airbox- It will give you lots of hours- just recharge it before the next trip.

i have ran the ESR cr igntion before o n my stroked 88 R it definilty revs fast and high but seems to lose lowend torque ...a lightened flywheel and a nology igniton is just as good in my opinion plus its alot cheaper and yo ucan use your lights

Its the way to go in my opinion, I lost nothing. The only complaint I could think of other than no lights without an aftermarket stator is it actually revs too fast at times. Some have complained of losing too much grunt down low. While its not technically possible to lose torque by decreasing flywheel inertia, some equate the possible rolling inertial loss up to this. However I feel it can be counteracted by the bike setup, I have and others have too.

I can tell you this a lightened flywheel will change things but will never even come close to being as light as a CR flywheel. The CR flywheel is the same diameter as the metal plate in the center of the stock stator, thats a huge difference.

yeah the cr is definitly less rotationa l mass than any cut oem flywheel i thin k the loss of any lowend is more due ot the timing curve but i could be wrong

if you have 400.00 you should try a p.v.l set up . i have one and i LOVE it very much.my set up is 2 1/2 by 1inch.let me tell you that it revs like a MF.The p.v.l put the life in my R.Its just the plugs are 12.00 a shot.this set up is a zero resistance. I would say this set up is a must for an R!!!! watch my silver lake vids and see for yourself!!!!!

What I'd like to see are comparable dyno charts that tells us what the timing curve is doing for a particular setup. I think I'd like that light flywheel for duning though for sure...
