4. he has a 39mm carb, high rev pipe, with stock porting and stock reeds, which is not going to help him out so much

I've ran a stock ported reed cage with cr reeds for yrs and love it. No problems with torque or throttle responce. ESR 5, and ftz inframe are probably the only 2 pipes better for top end ( on a stock cylinder ). He said he didnt know if it was ported. If it is way more power than he is used to on his 450, I'd say its got some metal missing in there. When I had my stock ported cylinder I ran stock cage, pt eliminator, 39 pwk and I had more motor than most machines around here including a few of your favorite machines.........Banshees. lol

Back on topic

Very clean bike my friend. Looks as clean as mine and I have 0 hours on it. Hell its not even done yet lol. Do a compression check on that and see what you come up with. There may be a few more cheap ponies hideing in that head.

ya for that motor to pull that pipe all around the powerband it has to be ported or bored to a big size

Thanks guys. The pipe seems to work really well. Also seems to be a strong powerband in all gears. The bike also has excellent top end. I forgot to add it has a boyesen rad valve. I will probably not be changing anything or adding anything to it. Except I will order new tires and wheels for the rear come monday.

The only thing is it will idle fine when the motor is cold. But after i get some time on it and it warms up it doesnt seem to idle all that well. Why is this ?

Either you just need to bump up idle srew a little or, you may be a little rich on your pilot. Does it start easy? Try taking your mixture screw in a half turn to a full turn.

Thanks nitrous glad to be on board the 2 stroke speed boat. The thing starts first kick for me almost everytime. Sometimes second kick. It seems like it idles kind of low.

And i was told today that the previous owner used maxima super m oil. With a 110 91 mixture

SOunds like a rich pilot. You probably want a 50 or 52 pilot. My previous statement of turning the mixture screw in, lol was wrong. Too many to drink last night lol. Try turning it in till it seats. Then turn it out 2 1/2 turns. If it still doesnt want to idle try the next smallest pilot. A properly tuned pilot should idle fine with minimal adjustment of the idle screw

I will have my buddy who is a 2 stroke junky with a pretty clean modded banshee check and adjust my pilots. I know it should be an easy fix to get this thign to idle correctly.

As far as the maxima super m goes. I think I would like to continue useing that oil. Here is what it has to say.

"Super-M is a high performance racing 2-Cycle lubricant incorporating the latest technology. Super-M is a blend of clean burning petroleum base oil, synthetic polyolester, polybutene, anti-scuff/anti-wear compounds and a new additive that keeps rings, power valves and the exhaust tract "carbon free". Another newly developed additive 2000 Centistoke Ester provides additional anti-scuff protection as well as enhanced rust & corrosion protection. This environmentally friendly “smokeless” formula is in a class by itself."

They recommend a 40:1 ratio. How come it says on my original tank 20:1 ? What do you guys think ? try mixing 40:1 and see how it goes ?
