Default 86 250r clutch basket???

I am getting ready to get a 86 250r engine and it has no clutch basket. could I get one from a different year or do I have to use a 86?

1998 Banshee bored .040 over, Coolhead with 21cc domes, PT Mids, +4 timing, K&N filter.

1986 TRX250R with 98 cr250 motor, LRD pipe, reed spacer, Laeger +3 a-arms, lonestar +4 axle and anit-fade nut, works triple rate with rezzy front shocks, 04 YFZ450 rear shock.

what is the 89 clutch update all about? I can get a complete stock basket with clutches of ebay from an 89 so it should bolt on?

Any yr basket will work. The update kit is a pancake bearing, clutch rod and cap, and new pressure plate. Just gives the clutch a smoother feel. I just dump it all the time, who needs smoothness lol
