250r......driveability issues

hey guys i have a 86 250r.........runs ok first started but after running for about 10 minutes the machine starts to lose power sputter and sometimes back fire.....am i losing a coil or a cdi box.............maybe a stator...........quad has a fatty pipe and a power core 2 on it........i think the motor is stock and i think the carb is stock....just looking for somewhere to start???????

Check carb and plug first,maybe dirty air filter?Just some simple things to check first!!Good luck and keep us informed!

Is it the same thing everytime? The running for 10 mins then the problems?

yeah i checked the air filter .......cleaned the carb........still not right.......i can see light through the reeds so i got some new ones on the way........boysen rad valve and reeds........but i dont think thats whats making it cut out........but i sure hope it is!!......feels like something in the ignition cause it runs great when you first start it.......and my slow jet is at 58 and the main is at 152

By chance can you get a CDI to test with?

well alot of the parts on this r look to be the original parts so i think i'm just gonna buy a new coil and plug boot and get a new cdi box........any recomendations on what i should get ??
