I think is does put more stress on the other mounts. I don't have proof of that but that's what makes these topics fun.

Without any empirical data, ehtoritically the answer is yes, it more than likely will. When you remove the mounting point between the two upper frame rails you have just doubled their length essentially, which means that they will flex more. More flex means shorter longevity and more stress on the other supporting components. Basically think of removing the head stay like removing one of the frame rails.

That said I have been running with the bar mounted but unattached to the head for a few years in the Glamis dunes. I am however going back to the head stay to prolong the frame life and hopefully improve suspension feel due to less twisting flex in the frame. If you run with a head that has the stay but is unbolted, after a couple rides you'll see where the bar mount rubs hard against the head as the frame flexes. It does make a difference in chassis flex.

I'd like to see the data on rpm and wear, and how it was collected and compared. The cylinder is a pretty beefy frame rail I'd think. I'd be surprised if that section moved much. I suspect it has more to do with reducing problems in the head gasket.

my laeger frame doesnt even have a place to attach it so ive always just run it with out it being connected obviously, and ive had no problems with cracking, but its also a MUCH stronger frame

well you said about how it will let the motor move more... I'm not sure why (my best quess is frame shifting around from stress?) but everytime I've ran with my head stay on it blows the head gasket. I completely shaved it off of my head and everything and now I havent blown a head gaskset since
