yeah your motor will make 62hp (probably 52 in reality) but do you realize what that thing is? an HRD 540 is a 75-85 HP motor(depends on set up) with an incredible power curve that pulls from start to finish. That thing is the perfect MX quad IMO for someone experienced enough to ride it. With that motor and that chassis with the 250r geometry, I really doubt you would be hanging with it very long on a track unless your alot better rider than I expect

the big bore 2 strokes like taht make power no doubt, but that doesnt mean its usable power, the traction sucks dick, like the LTR for example has traction control and actually retards the timing at some points so you cut down on wheel spin, i remember reading about a couple of LRD pros trying 350pvs on a track and said the power was just useless and you couldnt control it right

IMO the honda 450r is actually the slowest out of all the 450's

fastr puppets i ride 450's every weekend since everyone in my famliy cirlce has one im the only one with a 2-stroke
and i have to say the ltr 450 is fast and the yfz 450 is fast and even the honda 450r is fast i will admit they are fast and qiuck bikes i enjoy riding the 450's but come on man this a 2-stroke site and u are promoting thumper stuff thats not cool

u seem like the type of guy that needs to get his ass handed to him in a good old fashion mx race if i was younger and had a good mx250r i would give u that race

um its a fact, its an update taht they did on the 08 when they changed the ECU, like duners have been replacing them with the old ECUs because they want more wheel spin, but for mx it is ideal

haha, you guys just cant get along.

I own a 2006 honda 450r. I've had plenty of 2 strokes in my time but definetly prefer my 450r over them for my type of riding. I only ride the dunes and usually go on long rides so the 4 stroke works best for me. I've lined up against plenty of 250r's and Banshees out on the dunes.... i beat the majority of them but i also get beat by some of the highly modded ones.... doesn't really bother me if i win or lose. Its not whether its a 2 or 4 stroke, $$$$ = power and if you have the money, your bike will be faster regardless whether its a 2 or 4 stroke. But, there will always be someone out there that is faster than you.

I still like 2 strokes.... nothing compares to a 2 stroke powerband but these new 4 strokes are nice. I rode a LTR a few months back on the dunes and fell in love with it. I'm actually going to trade my 450r in for the suzuki 450. The power delivery was so smooth and the stock suspension setup was great. Bike sat nice and wide and i felt like i actually had more control over the LTR than my trx450.

I think the only 4 stroke riders that think a 2 stroke cant beat them are the ones who have never ridden a 2 stroke. The guys i ride with all have 4 strokes but when they see a built 250r or Banshee, they appreciate it because they know what type of power it has. They dont have the mindset that their 4 stroke will automatically beat it.

Does the slightly modded thing apply when you are talking about Honda Civics beating Z06 Corvettes? (I don't like those scenarios but I wouldn't expect it to happen stock)

Ofcourse the modding is necessary, the point is that it doesn't take much for one of the legendary 250Rs to stomp 20 additional years of technological advances in the four stroke world.

BTW, wait until you have to diagnose and fix some of these new crazy electronic setups on the new 450s and what not. I just found out my 700 has an electronic control that somehow slightly adjusts timing and what not at top speed to protect the motor. IMO that just sounds like a pain in the ass. What's next? Power steering, leather wrapped handlebars, and a heated seat?
