Default 250r base gasket sealing problems

ive put 3 base gaskets in my 250r and not one of them has held up, i torqued them down to as tight as i could get them by hand and it still blows them right out the side the sealing surface is not perfect as it has a few dings but i would think it should still seal. i have some thinnner gaskets (.10) and some thicker gaskets (.30) stock is .20. if i use the thicker or thinner gaskets will this make a difference??? any one had this problem???

Why make power half the time with a 4-stroke when you could make it all the time with a 2-stroke?

Using Cometic coated metal gaskets? We used that copper spray gasket on a jetski once and worked perfect..
PM member trx, he was having the same base gasket prob like you.. He might of found a fix for it!

the manuel calls for betweent 28 and 38

it started to leak then i went back and went to 34 pounds and it stopped leaking but i also changed the spark plug out to a br8 becouse the br9 iriduim lift alot of fuel in the crank area so it was being pushed out of the gasket area

is this the gasket between the case and cylinder? thickness shouldnt make a difference. only in compression. but not by much. did u try to tighten them in increments of 5-8 lbs. like a cross pattern? do one abit go to the oppisite corner and vise versa. blow-by from bad rings can also cause this

if the gasket is pushing out/in in the narrow tranfer port area, take a pointed punch and make small punch marks about 3/8" apart on either the cylinder or the cases.

those spring loaded punch's are perfect for this!

This has solved that problem for me in the past.

I have also used the copper coat spray in the past but the punch marks really does work the best.

You probably have some warping of the surface area of the cylinder or case if not a little of both.

Mine is leaking a little bit, but not bad enough to worry about it. If it gets worse, then I'll fix it...'till then, I'm ridin' the piss out of it!
