Default few questions...please help

first off thanks for the help..this is my first 250r and i dont know too much about them so any help would be greatly appreciated...........my question is i have a 86 250r and i just bought a new 38mm pwk carb and a new boysen rad valve and i was thinking that they arent gonna fit together being that the stock carb is a 34mm and the new is 38mm.........can i make the new rad valve work with the new carb??do i need to get a new boot??.......and where can i find a larger air box boot for between the carb and the box??

I had this same issue, and I have the Boyesen RAD Valve and a PWK 38 A/S. I ordered the correct valve to carb boot from Boyesen. Just call them up and ask them for the boot for the larger carb, they'll know what you're talking about. If I remember, it was like $10. As far as the air box to carb boot, you can heat it up and make it stretch far enough to make it fit on the carb. I carefully heated mine up with a lighter, but I've heard of others boiling water and submersing their boot until it was soft enough to stretch over the carb. Either way would work. Good luck!

If you heat the one between the carb and the box you can get it to fit, its not fun but you can make it fit. I had a 88 250R with a 39 pwk carb and got it to fit. As far as from the intake of the jug to the carb UPP makes one for larger carbs. Heres a link to UPP for their manifold for the 38-39 mm carb.

thanks guys.......i really appreciate the help.........i'm actually rebuilding the motor right now and i ordered all of this stuff and didnt know if it was gonna work.........i got a new 68 mm piston and the new rad valve and new 38mm carb.........new clutch and basket......all new bearings for the trans and crank.........new gaskets and seals new coil..........a fatty pipe and power core 2 ...............any idea what i should start my jetting at?????.............thanks again
