250r need mx improvements

ya i have any 86 trx 250r that i building for mx, i am very knew to the 2 stroke world and like it so far but i need more power out of my bike, it is already widen if the front +2+1 and the rear is +4, it has a k&n it has a ported and polished head, mild and re chamber to a 20 cc dome what else can i do to get more power out of it and not put another $1,000 in to it ( had to pretty much build from ground up), any of those 2 stroke tips would be great, oh ya I'm trying to keep up with all the new 450R's and the 440ex's

Bigger Carb,better reeds, what pipe are you running? Who ported it?

i have veforce 2 reeds and a procucit pipe looking to up grade to a lrd and the porting to the head was done buy a local shop that does all my machine work

One of the more important areas is putting your power to the ground. You can make 65 hp but if you just spin a piped 450 will pull away from you. If the swingarm on your 1986 250R is stock length get a -1. You can try to find one or I've seen em with an inch taken out of the stock ones between the shock mount and the bearing carrier. This will make it the length of a stock 88-89. Huge traction difference. Other than maybe a good pipe (I had a Pro Circuit and thought it was a good pipe) and some good tires it looks like you have a sweet mx R.

as far as the jug goes there is no port and polishing done to it yet

well thats where port and polishing occures...Contact EvilTwin about doing your porting and milling you head. Five0nick also does porting and i think TRX's are his speciality.

change your dome 20cc is too big you want to go with 18 or 19cc for more compression more bottom end torque. watch who you take advise from these rednecks are silly.
