The 500s have nuts thats for sure. As for myself, I own a pair of 500r's 4 - 250r and a brand new 450r.

The drags I would give to the 500, the track I would give to the 450r and for hillclimb, thats going to be a toss up between the 500 and the 450r. This bike has so much torque its not even funny. I know in a drag it will be killed by a 500, but up a hill, the 450 just has way more bottom end grunt than the 500, and I think thats going to be all the difference in the world.

I am going to glamis next weekend, I am going to put all 3 to the test, I will let you know how I vote when I get back.

I have only ridden the 450r slightly, and I am in love already. But huge sand hills are going to be the factor in taking over the #1 spot in my head from the 500.

I will let everyone know.

i raced on 04 crf450 with full fmf exhaust on my 1981 cr450r on the local long ass strip road courthwright rd.

i WALKED ALL OVER HIS ASS.
but them 450's are soft and do really good on a track.hill climbs problly your cr500 cause the bottom end and torque in those suckers.

Well, I gotta say I am totally impressed with the 450r, this is one sick machine. Never had any problems this past weekend, endless power. Not quite as fast as my 500 but sure feels like it shoots up the hill faster. Much more controllable for jumping from the big hills than the 500, and for being a 4 stroke, its not quite as bulky as the 500.

I still love my 500, but the CRF450R is no joke! This bike definitely is not going anywhere, I will be riding this quite a bit!
