| time will do wonders to parts. you definatly need a new piston! good you caught it. it only gets worse from there! still had compression i bet, the ring is still there. get y some v3 reeds they are a good investment. by the looks of the plug looks a little lean. |

| well good luck getting it running agian... ![]()

| Nelson, could it have been running lean because of the reed? Cuz I have actually been fouling plugs.... yup, still had good compression actually. Still can't get that cylinder off though, lol. I swore once it was glued and I will swear again that its glued.

| That's alot of carbon buildup on the piston but not bad. You might of been running rich but then lean when the reed broke and sucked more air in. And that's prob why that plug doesn't show fouled. Get that new top end kit from RJATV. Also on that head hasket, it's not fully open on all the water jackets. Not sure sure how much it will effect your coolant routing??? Is that the correct gasket or is that how they're made for R's? Sell that Blaster Hot Rod Crank & Engine gaskets.. make money for R parts!!

| yeah I noticed that about the head gasket. Its whatever the person had in there when I bought it, but I know on my ATC the water jackets were all open. I think a major topend overhaul is necessary at this point.lol.

| Well, it's getting ported, might as well get a fresh bore & hone in there along with the new piston!

| broken reeds will ONLY casue it to run rich. NOT LEAN! it was either running lean or the ignition timing is retarded. either will cause the exhaust side of the piston to burn. my guess is lean. high EGT's caused the piston to burn. get it rebuilt and check that jetting!also low water level will cause overheating and will be shown as seizure marks all the way around the piston.
