Default plated cylinder question

well i was wondering is the 98 cr125 a plated cylinder...i think it is soo this is my question...if you bore it out do you need to replate the cylinder or is it safe to not re plate it...the guy that is rebuilding the thing said he didnt bore it out thatr much and i was just curious if it has to be replated or not
