Default 250r jetting question St. Anthony Idaho

Hey guys got a question. Going to St. Anthonys dunes in Idaho In 3 weeks and needs some suggestions on what jetting to run. I think its 5000ft Im suppose to jet for?? I run a 86 250r pretty much stock motor with the exception of an 89 head gasket, 38mm Air striker, LRD pipe, open airbox and Vforce 3 reads with race gas. I have no idea what jets are in the carb now. I just bought it but its setup for riding here in MN. Approx. 2000ft.........I think? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would recommend talking to a good builder of 2 stroke engines. Got to a bike shop and hopefully there is someone kool and knowledgeable. Not all bikes shops have these people

They make test instruments, Race Air for example which reads the ambient atmosphere just for jetting purposes. You can go by correct elevation or air density for example. This tool is good for getting started. Basiscally you are trying to find out how dense the air is based on elevation, temp, humidity, ect.

You can also tune by ear but this takes experience. One thing I can tell you, is when running your engine at idle, and it wants to rev up by itself a little it is too lean. But still this takes experience to hear, feel and than tune by. You could run it than check the plug. Hope this helps

If you knew what jets are in it now we could probably put you in the safe part of the ball park and you can fine tune it when you get there

Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience!
