| Hey guys, you wouldn't believe this, but yesterday I bought a 2000 CR250R BRAND NEW! That's right, brand new. It's a long story, but I was the first one to start the bike, and for 2300 I couldn't pass. I used to own a 2000 CR250 when I was a teen, but unfortunately I don't have my mechanic dad near to help me with it. The bike isn't running right. I know I have to break it in, but the few times I tried to get on it, it wouldn't go like it should. It was bogging out. What do you think the problem is? Probably jetting? Also, when I put it into gear it will die unless I keep the revs up? Since this bike has been sitting for 8 years what are the things I should check out? seals? Does anyone know if the 02+ models rear number plates will fit on a 2000? I was the rider and my dad was the maintainer, now I have to do both. I have a lot to learn. Just looking for tips. Thanks! |

| It was stored in a garage. No rust at all. The guy ordered it and got hurt at work. When the bike came in he couldn't ride for a year. When he was able to ride again he got a newer model and kept the one I bought sitting. You say clean the carb, when it comes from the factory is there any liquid in the bike? |

| probably not, dust or what ever could be in it or if it had old gas in it it will gum it never hurts to clean the carb, remove all the jets and stuff and clean with carb cleaner and use a compressor and blow out all the small passages. then reassemble, on the air/fuel screw turn it in and count the turns and then remove the screw then when u put back together go all the way in and turn back out what ever the count was, usually around 1.5, when u turn the screw in dont go till its tight just till seated, u can mess up the seat. did the guy u got it from live close or was it in a different elevation. that can mess up jetting, u can do a plug chop. Plug Chop How To?
