| Its a matter of preference. Most bigger guys will like the 86-87 setup. The 88-89 were a little lighter though

| Ok, thanks guys! I've been looking at a lot of quads and the 250r is the one that I want the most. So, ill be buying one and I'll be happy again with a 2 stroke instead of a crappy 4 stroke 350 warrior.. |

| Yeah any yr 250r will be better than your current scoot..j/k The 88 and 89 250rs has a aluminum swingarm which is shorter and lighter.I have a 06 450r swinger on mine. Now its lighter.. |

| ive never really rode any 88-89 250rs, but I think they have much better frames. the engine mounts are better and the swingarm/engine mount setup is much better with the 88-89. like for example it can put a good amount of stress on your engine cases (with the 86-87's) if you ride em hard with wore out swingarm needle bearings cause the swingarm bolt is used to mount to the rear engine mounts. I'd say if I had a choice to get another R i'd want one of the 88-89 frames, the rest of the bike can mix and match different year modle parts.

| 88 had a better port design and a little more compression due to a longer rod the 86 frame is stronger with the pegs mounted in a comfortable spot
