| I had the same problem with my drain. All you have to do is get a metric tap set, and "chase" the old threads. This worked for me...

| i mix my R at 40:1 with Klotz R50. Been running that ratio for years and have had good luck with it. And i would do the same as one of the other guys said and that is to chase the plug hole.

| 370 Banshee you are right, you can simply re-tap the hole to 14mm X 1.25 and replace the bolt with a Suzuki LT250R drain bolt. |

| I just recently bought a 250r and the guy said he's ran 32:1 and had 0 problems, 20:1 is a plug fouler. |

| on my LT, the case was stripped also. I used a universal expandable rubber plug that worked great until i started racing and it got ripped out while jumping. We just ended up cutting down a long bolt and tapping out the cases. It is not a drain plug, but it works great.

| Great forum here, guys. This is my first post... So I've been reading through the forum nonstop for about a week and a half and y'all really helped bring me up to speed on 250R issues. Your thread on porting was practically scholarly, along with Macdizzy.com, awsome. So I picked up a mostly clean and stock '88 last night and want to bounce a couple ideas off you. First, tire height and gearing reduction recommendations for socal desert riding. We'll be riding Havasu Landing this weekend in the rain and Ocotillo Next weekend, followeds by Glamis and some paddles the following weekend, when it'll probably be like Disneyland at Christmas. Everything in the drivetrain is currently stock. Next, I'll follow your Amsoil 50:1 advice, but in the meantime shall I run through the ten gallons of Yamalube 2R 40:1 I had mixed up for a KX500 whose gearcase I grenaded last week? Maybe 32:1? After the weekend I'll try to post a pic with the pipe that's on it. It'll probably have a sloppy weld you can laugh at (I'm pretty weak with the old wire-feed), but here's a brief description in the meantime. It doesn't have any discernable markings, is flat black (may have been painted later, though), is two piece and comes togethor at the forward most point in the frame, and mimics almost exactly the same angle in macro as the kickstarter. Doesn't look like an over-rev pipe. Did anyone make an unmarked pipe? Kind of weird... I'm trying to figure out if it'll be worth keeping. "Oh crystal ball, how much must I spend in these next weeks?" So that was a silly long post and I won't blather like that in the future, it's a first post thing. I'm 34, live in Forest Falls (kind of by Big Bear), work for the Forest Service cutting brush and burning piles all winter and watching brain cells fall out of my skull. This is midlife crises number three and the previous two antidotes were also two strokes. Take care and thanks for all the great info, Lincoln |
