| Looking into finding either an old atc250r frame or trx250r frame and rebuilding a cr500 engine..possibly with a big bore kit. Any idea how the engine fits in these frames? Any specialy hints or tips, better years to get the parts off of? Anything... besides the motor, electrical, and carb is there any other parts like the radiator or anything off of the dirtbike that should also be put into service on the quad? I'd love to have a later modle atc250r or an 88-89 trx for this project if anyone could point me in the direction of any rollers.. thanks. |

| What kind of power should i be looking to get out of a rebuilt cr500,i plan on atleast getting some new reeds and a wiseco piston and a little porting...i heard 550 big bores are available though so might have to go that route.. More or less than my suuzki 500 more importantly?? Also has anyone ever used 250 mx engine instead? 500 might be a little big for the little lt im thinking.. All info and links appreciated thanks..cant wait to get going on this whatever i decide on. |

| The CR500 will have more power than an LT. The LT will have more bottom end punch. I never got started on my project due to money problems. When I bought my frame it was ready for a motor. From what I have read and also talked to the guy I bought my frame from is that the CR500 motor in a quad is just awsome. More power than you will ever know what to do with and to get the most ponies from the motor you would want to get ahold of FTZ or some other custom pipe company to make a pipe.

| Ive done that swap a few times and i liked the power and all but it vibrates a lot, it can even break frames. I used it just for Drag Racing cuz riding it around is a bit of a pain |
