| i have the sst pipes on my shee an love em.. they smooth out the "hit" for less wheel spin and more power from top to bottom BUT these are on a shee not the R so how they perform on it i don't know, but as for cheap mods, what reeds are you running? banshee/jason seems to love the 1dir racing ones, but for now a good set of pipe/silencer will bring you the most boost |

| Solo is right you want to get a nice set of pipes and silencers before you do anything else. Next after that you will want to get a set of reeds and yes I do push the 1dirracing.com G3 Reeds. As for the pipe I really don't have any experience with pipes but I have hear good things about the LRD pipes and CT. Good thing about the 250R is you have so many choices, bad thing about it is you have to make a choice. What kind of oil are you using for mix and case? Those will give you a performance gain not much but it won't cost you that much. Other things to try is a CDI they are only about $300 and can give you so much for so little. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

| An SST pipe and a Powercore 2 Silencer works very well on a 250r (thats where I got the first idea for my YZ but then I bought the Titanium 2 to try it and I liked it better). It all depends on the type of riding that you're doing because I dont know what type of terrain is in Chico but this pipe/silencer combo isnt for really rockie or rough trail riding (at least on a dirtbike it dosen't work out well). I know that the SST pipe is a great pipe and to tell you the truth, the Fatty is a good one too. I know that the kid with the 250r I know is very happy with this pipe/silencer combo. Another thing that is fairly inexpensive if you do the disassemblassembly yourself would be to have the ports polished. You could also try new reed valves (I recommend Boyseen or VForce). If you wanted a really inexpensive shot at increasing performance you could try repacking your existing silencer and a few other things that you could try would be to change your plug if it hasent been changed in awhile. If you are looking for more speed too, you could try a different sprocket set. I'm not a big ATV rider but most of this stuff is just some little tips that can boost a 2stroke's power. Also you could try stepping up the octane on your fuel if you want to risk it and possibly change your pre-mix oil. I have no recommendations for quads but i run Maxima Castor 927 in my bike and it works great for me.

| Thanks for all the great suggestions. I run castor 927 for mix and the pro honda oil for the crankcase. up hear in chico there is some rock but i do most of my ridding in the foothills and on the dunes. I heard about the g3 reeds and they looked like the best bet. my silencer does probably need to be repacket and i'll try changing my spark plugs since i'm still using the couple that i got from the guy i bought it from. Thanks for the suggestion on changin my gear ratio. I'm about need of a new rear sprocket anyways so maybe i'll go with a smaller sproket do my top end is a little better but i haven't decided yet i still might want a bigger one so i have better accel to. Thanks a lot guys and if any one has any more suggestions i'll be glad to hear them.

| i have talked to a few people that have the ESR pipe. they are supposed to be about the best pipe you can buy.plus their pipe works great with their other products like billet heads, big bore kits stroker kits, and other cool stuff. plus i think they also do port work too. the guy a talked to about the ESR stuff had a 310 kit with the bilet head and the esr pipe and he said it's by far the fastest 250r he's ever owned or ridden. if i were you i'd try the ESR pipe. oh yeah i found out my alky drag pipe is an ESR about a wek or so ago. |
