Default New CR125

Greetings,

I picked up a new leftover '04 CR 125 for my kid to beat around the back woods with. He ran the bike today for a short while but it was pretty cold out so he didn't last long. He took it very easy keeping the RPM's down so everything would seat properly. Later he ran the bike again but it stalled before getting up to operating temp. and would not re-start. I suspect the stock Denso plug migh be too cold for the weather condition and subsequently fouled.
The manual indicated you can run a NGK BR9EG or BR9EV as an alternative. But during cold weather, is it OK to run a BR8EG ? The pipe was spitting a little oil so I assume it was running a bit rich due to the outside temp. and the soft way the bike was being ridden.
