Lincoln is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Cool Saturday...

How much does this suck? Bought an '88 Thursday nite, brought it home and tried to fire it up for a blast with my bro and his really shiny, new and working YFZ and... kickstarter will not move. Feels frozen, thinking hmmm... maybe the kid I bought it from put in water instead of antifreeze and the water pump is mechanically attached to the motor's innards in a way that won't let anything else within the engine rotate? That's my guess. It's been subfreezing for two days.

Does that sound right, water in pump won't let kickstarter turn the piston over? No garage or heat gun at the time. Lincoln.

Or it could be worse and the engine could be seized. Did you hear it run at all?

yea thats what i was thinking. your piston might be rusted to the cylinder, or your rod bearings might be seized or if it did have water instead of coolant you might have actually have the cylinder sleeve messed up if it froze in there. but if it ran before it might just be something like your thinking mabe.

Yeah, heard it run... sounded as good as you'd expect with a eighth inch pinhole in the pipe and old mix. Probably gotta let it thaw for a couple of days. Interesting idea on the cylinder sleeve freezing. Thanks for the help.
