First of all, get a manual!!!! This is a fairly simple operation but there are some key things you need to know. You will need to check the cylinder bore diameter and inspect the piston for wear. You also need to check the ring end gap after the cylinder is honed. Without a proper hone (or deglaze) the new rings will not seat in properly. If any of these are out of specs then you can be sure the top end will fail. If you are unsure then bring the cyl., piston, and rings to a shop for inspection. It seems you are able to do the work yourself just fine so spend some extra time to make sure it comes out perfect. Hope I was able to help and good luck.

get the manual Honda makes a great service manual its easy to follow and they give you alot of info. I would get a new piston. I did just rings on my CR250 once and the skirt fell apart and put a whole in the bottom of the case
