| Hi there, i have a 1984 Honda h100sd 2 stroke. A few months back i replaced the condensor as it was suspected faulty. I bought a new condenser from wemoto.com but the one i got was different from the picture on there size and is just that little bit longer. The one on the site has 1 wire on the condenser with a metal tab on the wire. The one i received has no wire and 2 tabs on the condensor (which apear to be on the one connection, ie they are not + and - tabs) i fitted it anyway. After a recent checked i discovered bad arcing on my points particularly when reving the engine. I checked my points gap and discovered that they were just under .3mm and changed it to the recomended 0.35. The arcing mysteriously stoped after this. My manual goes into no details of how to changed the condensor stating that the h100sd list no condensors seperatly so the whole stator unit would have to be replaced as a whole unless a part could be matched. ON the old condenser there is one wire which has 2 wires soldered on, 1 that is connected to the points and 1 connected to the stator coil were soldered on to the one wire on the old condensor, so i just soldered those 2 wires onto the new condenser. Is this right?? Im trying to solve a misfiring problem at higher RPM Sometimes when the bike is still cold it would misfire from 3500rpm upwards and once heated up would be fine with a few we misfires here and there. Then there was one time it just misfired constantly. One more question?? When the engine is under load is it normal to sound like its misfiring?? Bliping the throttle seems to rev clean, but when holding the throttle at revs under no engine loading seems to misfire. Edit : Got out the multimeter to check the ignition timing, and that the stator coils were within acceptable condition, timing is now set bang on, points were opening 2 or 3 degrees earlier than they should. Coils seem fine, 1 coil 0.3ohms resistance and the other 0.8ohms, 1 should be in the range 0f 0.1 to 1.0 and the other 0.3 to 1.5. Checking thing the plug for spark i get a big spark and i mean the spark isnt a tiny thin , the spark arcs over almost the enter surface of the electrode !!! Which i think is pretty good for just kicking the engine over by hand. So i assume that the ignition system must be fine. Last edited by veda_sticks; 09-13-2006 at 12:07 PM. |
