| looseness can also lead to an imbalance thats not good for the bike either.

| yea the nut was tight but the key is a little messed up, anyways back to the timing if the compression is higher shouldnt i back the ignition up to -2 or -4 not advancing it to +4, no one around here rides banshees or know much about them even when i go to the shop at yamaha they dont even know what to do! this bike is driving me crazy

| nope.. leave the timing at +4.. i run 180psi copmpression and +4 timing on av100ll and have no detonation problems... i'm tellign you that your problem is not a timing issue.. you have an ingition component issue. soudns to me like a stator or igntion coil.. banshees have bene known to eat a stator before... put an ohm meter on that stator.. actually both stators.. yours and youir buddies and see what you get... the specs are in the manual. if both stators test good... try using a buddies ign. coil... i had a shee that cut out horrible on top.. i tried to jet it out for a while then tried another coil and fixed the problem.. |

| 370 knows shees like the back of his hand along with some other guys on here so i would take his advise and 120 sounds good for stock head

| double check the stator.... if new parts never went bad.. there be no such thing as a warrantee.... did you try your stator and plate in your buddies quad? i'd try swapping out a few of his parts with yours... soemtimes electrical stuff is a big pain in the ass... and it's hard to daignose a problem espeically runability problems over the internet... the issue of stock or +4 timing is not a factor in your equation though.. |

| ive seen coils crack from heat and do wierd stuff and ya my want to check all the electrical butt connecters to make shere there all clean and tight

120m sounds low to me with stock port timing and a stock uncut head... depending on elevation... that might be low... i know at 800ft (about where i'm at 120 is low..) at sea level that is low... it all has to do with air density... at 1600ft 120 would be good..... this air density thing is why you have to jet for altitude changes... |
