16 gage minimum. I would use 14 to get the best connection.

ok maybe i read it wrong but dd you say u have the balck wire spliced into teh orange coil (hot) wire? if so that your no spark issue... ur grounding the coil....

i;ve done a few of these wiring deals on shees... and all you need to make it run is the 4 "stato wires" a ground and the ornage wire to the coil... now for grounds u need to ground the - side of the coil.... and u can can the stator to with the balck wire.. but if i remember correctly you don't actaully have to...

Default thought id done her.....

whats happening now is shees in park brake/tors bloody program, ticks over but wont rev up.
from the cdi i have only used 3 wires, the orange to coil, the red/black to key switch, and the black to coil/key/stator/frame/battery.left over i have a black/white and a black/yellow,im sure these were left unconnected when i was using her before. any body know what im doing wrong????

Default now shes done!!!!

okaydokay, got it sorted, you can get away with using the red/black wire to the key switch, black must go from cdi to the stator/coil/key switch (and battery if u have one,i would also advise an earth lead from battery to frame as double security).
orange from cdi goes to coil.
green/yellow on cdi must go to earth.
my stator is the electrex twin output stator.i have used one output and the other end floated to the reg/rect.and then to battery for charging.
the other output goes to the lights(dip/main beam) in conjunction with a regulator to stop bulbs blowing. i then run my speedo power/indicators/brake lights, side lights from the battery. if anybody would like pics i can mail em.thanks............
