What does a ignition coil do? Please help!!!

It sends the electicity to the plug which then greates the spark. unless you are talking about on the stator the ignition coil in which case that coil creates the power.

the ignition coil is simply a transformer that steps up the voltage that comes from the CDI to several thousand volts to arc across the plug gap. it's probably somewhere around 25-50 thousand volts at the plug, but i could be off by some.

the pickup coil generates a pulse every time the flywheel passes by and sends it to the CDI.
