its kinda of hard to time it 180 out. the stator wires wouldn't fit into the case right. and the mounts might be off so it wouldn't even bolt up.

make sure you wired it up correct. check the color coded wires going to the cdi.

and now thats its backfiring HOWS THE FLYWHEEL KEY? backfiring can through it out of time by shearing the key in the crank.

Default well it offical the keyway stripped

i took your advice on the keyway..

i pulled off the balancer and the keyway was stripped clean with the groove..almost like it was made to do that....

my prob is what could have caused it..this bike is going to be in a hair scramble in a week or so ,,and i dont want it going down on me...

it only would happen if the flywheel nut wasn't torqued to specs. that has to be tight, i think they are torqued to around 45-50 ft lbs. there is another reason but its not likely, the key way in the flywheel or the crank is all worn but that rarely happens mostly on old bikes.

so get a new key and torque the flywheel nut to specs and it should have no more problems with it shearing again.

I don't want to poke fun at you but. Have you got a bung in the end of your pipe? or maybe there is some loose carbon blocking your pipe?
