Cool turbocharger?

Has anyone ever tried to turbo charge a 2 stroke? I would think if you could put twice as much charge into the cylinder ( 1 bar boost), of course you couldn't run a tuned pipe but the turbo would offer some back preshure in the exhaust that would be lower than boost preshure, so you would loose air/fuel out the ex. but it would have backpressure to work against. So if you ran 1 bar boost you would lose some boost out the ex. but you are basicly doubling the amount of air/fuel available to the cylinder. This is just a theory, but unless for some reason every one says this won't work I plan on trying this on my 125cc if I can find a small enough turbo.

Turbos ! There are a bunch of guys that have done the mod. Areocharger is the turbo that they are using because it is a sealed bearing turbo, so you do not have to install oil cooler lines. They have mostly been done on the banshee, I have seen one on a 400ex a few years back. There are obviously a lot more things that you have to do besides just bolt it on. Carb mods, electric fuel pump because the vacuum style fuel pump won't work due to the pressure in the intake. If I get a chance, I try and dig some pictures up.

mgty3whlr so it has been done, cool. My paticular motor is a piston port no reeds, but I would think you would maintain similar pressure diferentials across your reeds so they would still close as soon as crankcase pressure equalized with with the boost pressure, since they don't reference atmospheric pressure. I could be wrong but it makes sense.

turbocharging is popular on snomobiles. do a search for aercharger or aerodyne. youll find some stuff. as others said the aerocharger has sealed bearings and i think they hold a small amount of oil and have a wick. otherwise you would have to setup a resevoir to pump and return oil. you will need an electric fuel pump and regulator, timing may need to be retarded. i think 2 stroke turbocharging is mostly for scavenging and i would be surprised to see 1 bar(14.7psi) of boost, if you could make that kind of boost your crank seals probably wouldnt handle it as they are designed for vaccuum. and yes you can use a tuned pipe. heres some pics.
